Not Apathetic

Tell the world why you're not voting - don't let your silence go unheard

They're not voting because...

Spoiling your ballot paper DOES NOT ...

Spoiling your ballot paper DOES NOT get counted - I have been doing it for the past 35 years, and (I think since Labour got in) it is no longer publicised.

To have any effect I would suggest you go to your polling station and / or get your postal ballot, write on why you are not voitng, ie. non of the above / number of votes cast do not reflect number of seats per party / we need proportional representation / who ever you vote for the government gets in / etc., etc., and return it to the Electorial Society.

Tell them why telling us to vote is patronising, and the self interested message of those who already control the system for themselves.

And no - its eqully patronising to try and guilt trip us by saying, what about all those people in Irag / South Africa / whereever who queue to have the chance to vote.

What this is about is how given that we are an educated (?) civilised (?) society to have a political system that is based on bullying, exploiting the weakest and least vocal members of society and allowing politicians and the press to tell us we should be proud.

About Not Apathetic

NotApathetic was built so that people who are planning not to vote in the UK General Election on May 5th can tell the world why. We won't try to persuade you that voting is a good or a bad idea - we're just here to record and share your explanations. Whether ideological, practical or other, any reason will do.

A lot of users would like us to mention that if you spoil your ballot paper, it will be counted. So if you want to record a vote for "none of the above", you can.
