Not Apathetic

Tell the world why you're not voting - don't let your silence go unheard

They're not voting because...

The Lesser of Two Evils

Without proportional representation any vote for a party other than the main two is wasted. Voting Conservative is not an option but the Labour Party has proved itself to be no more principled. Both sides supported the war on Iraq and both sides are more than happy to use a vaguely threat of "terror" to curtail human rights. Power corrupts.

Joe replies: The problem with proportional representation is that all the power is in the hands of the third party, ir the Liberal Party.

Tom Sedge replies: The fastest way to change the current first-past-the-post system is for the turnout to collapse to levels that politicians cannot ignore.

Also there is no party that represents my views and I don't believe political parties make an effective form of government.

About Not Apathetic

NotApathetic was built so that people who are planning not to vote in the UK General Election on May 5th can tell the world why. We won't try to persuade you that voting is a good or a bad idea - we're just here to record and share your explanations. Whether ideological, practical or other, any reason will do.

A lot of users would like us to mention that if you spoil your ballot paper, it will be counted. So if you want to record a vote for "none of the above", you can.
