They're not voting because...

. . . the backward nature of the electoral...

. . . the backward nature of the electoral registration process. I live abroad and for various reasons to dull to go in to missed the deadline for registration. As the population becomes more and more mobile, the UK electoral registration system must surely adapt and allow people to register online using a secure login system. I can bank online and access other important confidential services online, why in 2005 can't I register to vote online and then place my vote online on May 5th?
