I'm spoiling my ballot paper.
I'm going to draw an extra box, label it "none of the above" and put a cross in it. And I'm going to write: "Tony Blair is a war criminal, all the major parties are the same and that's what I'd like to say today".

matt replies: And that MIGHT be read by the bored student who is counting the papers for a few extra beer tokens, before being put in the "spoiled" pile.
Do you know what happens if there is a majority of spoiled papers? Nothing. The winner is still the candidate with the most votes.

Pete replies: That may be so, but they'd sh*t themselves. All the way through their term of office (depending on who won) they'd know that they had no mandate to rule and would be reminded of it constantly! We'd then see them falling over themselves to convince us that they had changed...less corruption, less bureaucracy and massive changes to the democratic process. And if we held out through the election after that they might even mean it. I can but dream!
