although the UK government vaunts itself as being amongst the most democratic in the world, and even describes the UK parliament as the 'mother of parliaments', (what rot!) I have been deprived of my democratic rights through having accepted to work in an international organization situated outside the UK. In contrast, my wife who is not a UK citizen but also lives outside her own country, can and does vote in both her national and European elections.

I would add that the UK electoral system, even for those that can vote, is particularly undemocratic, effectively nullifying in the vast majority of constituencies all votes for any but the two main parties.
