Not Apathetic

Tell the world why you're not voting - don't let your silence go unheard

They're not voting because...

It's time to move onYes, all the effort...

It's time to move on
Yes, all the effort to get universal suffrage was worth it, and not to be sniffed at, but now we have democracy it's time to get rid of nations. Voting for national representatives simply entrenches an archaic system. Take the power back to local level.

Jeffrey replies: and then we need to take it back up to a national and international level in order to standardise laws and legislation. We all want laws in our local area that work for us, and then complain bitterly at the red tape when a criminal is inconsiderate enough to cross borders.

JohnD replies: Sure, localisation is not without difficulty. And I work in standardisation, so I know that it is valuable and cant be localised.
We can have both, but power is best seated as close to the community as possible. National and international law and policing are done by grudging agreement and thats the way it should stay (go on, get me started on terrorism).

About Not Apathetic

NotApathetic was built so that people who are planning not to vote in the UK General Election on May 5th can tell the world why. We won't try to persuade you that voting is a good or a bad idea - we're just here to record and share your explanations. Whether ideological, practical or other, any reason will do.

A lot of users would like us to mention that if you spoil your ballot paper, it will be counted. So if you want to record a vote for "none of the above", you can.
