Not Apathetic

Tell the world why you're not voting - don't let your silence go unheard

They're not voting because...

I got off my backside and decided to...

I got off my backside and decided to become a candidate. It's not as easy as sitting at home with the smug feeling that no matter who wins it's not my fault, but there is more of a chance of actually changing something. When the masses stop believing every word they read in the Daily Mail/Sun/Mirror and actually start questioning local or national politicians with an open mind or, god forbid, actually finding out about the subject they're interested in, you might find the politicians need to spin a little less... It also helps if people don't vote for a party because it's seen as "aspirational" or because three generations of your family have. Still more important is to join the lobby for some form of PR voting, ideally STV, that way if you do ever decide to put a little effort into your vote to determine which local politician nearest meets your beliefs and values, you'll have a better chance of having your vote counted.

About Not Apathetic

NotApathetic was built so that people who are planning not to vote in the UK General Election on May 5th can tell the world why. We won't try to persuade you that voting is a good or a bad idea - we're just here to record and share your explanations. Whether ideological, practical or other, any reason will do.

A lot of users would like us to mention that if you spoil your ballot paper, it will be counted. So if you want to record a vote for "none of the above", you can.
