Not Apathetic

Tell the world why you're not voting - don't let your silence go unheard

They're not voting because...

I will not vote because I have no faith...

I will not vote because I have no faith in any political party, and no faith in an electoral system that requires me to offer a complete, unconditional endorsement to the party elected, regardless of what actions that party takes after the election.

Quote from Cian: "Why not start your own party then?"

Did you not READ the original post? He clearly said that he had "... no faith in an electoral system that requires me to offer a complete, unconditional endorsement to the party".

Why should anyone offer "complete and unconditional support" to a party just because it happens to be one that he started up for himself?

It's the principal that is the issue.

Once you vote a party into Government they then have the power to do whatever the hell they like during that term (whether it be starting illegal wars or systematically destryoing the civil liberties of it's own citizens). You have absolutely no redress until the next election (by which time it is far too late).

About Not Apathetic

NotApathetic was built so that people who are planning not to vote in the UK General Election on May 5th can tell the world why. We won't try to persuade you that voting is a good or a bad idea - we're just here to record and share your explanations. Whether ideological, practical or other, any reason will do.

A lot of users would like us to mention that if you spoil your ballot paper, it will be counted. So if you want to record a vote for "none of the above", you can.
