I will not vote because I have no faith in any political party, and no faith in an electoral system that requires me to offer a complete, unconditional endorsement to the party elected, regardless of what actions that party takes after the election.written 8th Apr 2005

Quote from Cian: "Why not start your own party then?"
Did you not READ the original post? He clearly said that he had "... no faith in an electoral system that requires me to offer a complete, unconditional endorsement to the party".
Why should anyone offer "complete and unconditional support" to a party just because it happens to be one that he started up for himself?
It's the principal that is the issue.
Once you vote a party into Government they then have the power to do whatever the hell they like during that term (whether it be starting illegal wars or systematically destryoing the civil liberties of it's own citizens). You have absolutely no redress until the next election (by which time it is far too late).written 8th Apr 2005
