Not Apathetic

Tell the world why you're not voting - don't let your silence go unheard

They're not voting because...

I'm not voting for the same reason as...

I'm not voting for the same reason as last years local elections. Remember the TV campaign that said if you dont vote you dont have any reason to complain? Well, the way I see it from what I've read up on the politics of this country because no matter whether we care to vote or note, we cant complain because the politicians will not listen to us as people at large. Trust a government that lies? No thanks. Trust a government that thinks we're stupid? No thanks. I may only be 19, but I know enough to say that our political system is in shambles. Some people may call it a wasted vote, but I think of it as more of a vote that wont be used to line someone elses pockets.

Steve C replies: Exactly. And if you vote for someone who gets into power, you certainly have no right to complain. YOU chose them, YOU gave them whatever little mandate they have, YOU participated in their skewed, ruinious system.

Not voting for a party when you share their politics puts you in a position where you can't complain, but not voting for anyone when you don't share any of their politics gives you all the reasons in the world.

Pete replies: What utter tosh are you spouting Steve ?

Of course you have the right to complain.

About Not Apathetic

NotApathetic was built so that people who are planning not to vote in the UK General Election on May 5th can tell the world why. We won't try to persuade you that voting is a good or a bad idea - we're just here to record and share your explanations. Whether ideological, practical or other, any reason will do.

A lot of users would like us to mention that if you spoil your ballot paper, it will be counted. So if you want to record a vote for "none of the above", you can.
